Wireless audio-output connections typically use Bluetooth technology
Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology that allows devices to exchange data over short distances to reach voice clearly. It operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency and it uses radio waves to communicate between the device and Bluetooth. Bluetooth is commonly used for connecting devices such as smartphones, tablets, personal computers, laptops, headphones, speakers, keyboards, and other peripherals.
Bluetooth technology enables devices to establish a low-power, personal area network (PAN) known as a Bluetooth network. It uses a master-slave architecture, where one device acts as the master and other devices are slaves. The master device controls the communication between devices in the network.
Bluetooth offers several advantages, including:
Wireless Connectivity: Bluetooth eliminates the need for physical cables, making it convenient for connecting devices without clutter.
Low Power Consumption: Bluetooth is designed to be energy-efficient, making it suitable for battery-powered devices. It utilizes low power when idle and has various power-saving modes.
Simplicity: Bluetooth devices can be paired easily by initiating the connection and entering a PIN or confirming a passkey.
Compatibility: Bluetooth is a widely used technology by users and is compatible with a wide range of devices from different manufacturers.
Versatility: Bluetooth supports various profiles for different types of applications, including audio streaming, file transfer, wireless keyboards and mice, hands-free calling, and more.
Security: Bluetooth incorporates security features, such as encryption and authentication, to protect data during transmission.
Range: Bluetooth typically has a range of up to 10 meters (30 feet), although newer versions, such as Bluetooth 5.0 and 5.1, can provide extended range options.
Bluetooth versions have evolved over the years, with each iteration offering improvements in terms of data transfer rates, range, power consumption, and features. The latest version as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021 is Bluetooth 5.2, but newer versions may have been released since then.
